Most of our guests find us because of the house. Many come back because of breakfast. It is served in the panelled Breakfast Room from eight until half past ten, and everything on the sideboard and the menu has a short journey.
From the garden and the next valley
The eggs come from our hens at the bottom of the orchard, collected before the kitchen opens. Sausages are Gloucester Old Spot from a farm a few miles away, and the dry-cured bacon is from the same herd. Mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach come from the kitchen garden from June to October.
What to order
- The Thornbury Full, for a long day on the Cotswold Way.
- Oak-smoked kippers with lemon butter, a house favourite.
- Buttermilk pancakes with berries and crème fraîche.
- Porridge finished with Cotswold cream, or a dram of whisky in winter.
Tell us about any dietary needs when you book and the kitchen will plan around them. On summer mornings we will lay your table on the terrace.
