Five walks from the front door

You do not need the car at Thornbury Manor. The Cotswold Way runs past the end of the drive, and the boot room has OS maps, route cards and a rack by the range for wet socks.

  1. Dover's Hill and back, about 1 hour. Up through the fields to the escarpment for the view over the Vale of Evesham.
  2. Chipping Campden town loop, 1 hour. The Market Hall, the almshouses and St James' Church.
  3. To Broad Campden and Blockley, half a day, with a pub lunch at the halfway point.
  4. Hidcote and Kiftsgate, half a day, two great gardens across the fields.
  5. Broadway Tower, a full day along the Cotswold Way, with a taxi back if your legs ask for one.

Order a picnic hamper the night before and it will be waiting in the hall after breakfast.
